Hematologist – a doctor who specializes in blood diseases, conducting laboratory tests, developing new ways of diagnosing and preventing the occurrence of blood pathology.
A consultation with a hematologist is referred in case of suspicion of various types of anemia, when blood test results show characteristic changes (low or high hemoglobin, thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), hemorrhagic vasculitis (inflammation of microvessels), hemophilia and other congenital hereditary disorders.
Blood diseases often cause general malaise, fatigue, loss of appetite. Such symptoms may be the first signs of serious illness, so a change in condition must be a reason to see a doctor.
